The Weig Group, Mayen, is entering the US market. The Weig Europack business unit is entering the market and will be working closely with sales partner Sharp International in future.
The entry into the US market follows a clear strategic logic: demand for recycled cartonboard is growing continuously in the consumer goods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals segments. Medium-sized US processors are increasingly looking for European alternatives in order to position themselves more independently of the established major suppliers. At the same time, regulatory and brand pressure to use sustainable packaging with verifiable environmental performance is increasing.
Global presence - local partners
Sharp International is the exclusive distribution partner for market development for the Weig Europack business unit in North America. With strategically placed warehouse locations in Montreal, New York, Savannah and Houston, the logistical infrastructure is already in place. The distribution rights are held in full by Sharp International.
„The USA is a highly interesting market for us with a stable economic foundation. With this expansion, we are not only strengthening our global presence, but also expect important impetus for our innovation work in Europe.“
Mike Petersen, Head of the Weig Europack business unit at the Weig Group
Weig is launching the Pirol, Kiwi, Ibis and Unipack/UnipackF varieties on the US market - all suitable for packaging consumer goods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
