Focus on sustainability and digitalisation

Dr Bettina Horenburg is delighted with both the number and the quality of this year's submissions. „We had a Very strong, international field of participants with innovative solutions from Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Turkey. 40 per cent of the innovations submitted were in the sustainability category. This shows how important this mega-topic is and remains, despite all the current pandemic crises. But the new, first-time competition category of digitalisation has also taken off. The many exciting solutions we received for this second mega-topic demonstrate the importance of digital transformation and show how creatively and seriously companies in the value chain are tackling and mastering this challenge.“

According to the dvi, the winners of the German Packaging Award 2020 have once again taken packaging to the next level. The solutions enable clearly differentiated brand messages at the point of sale or offer exciting and multi-stage unboxing experiences. They range from new solutions for easy opening by people with limited options and simultaneous childproofing to fully digital workflows along the value chain or plantable cardboard sleeves.

Gold Awards and special prizes

This year, for the first time, special prizes will be awarded in the categories Sustainability and Young talent awarded. They are awarded together with the Gold Awards during the dvi dialogue week taking place for the first time this year will be announced. The Gold Award is presented to the innovations that stand out from the other packaging award winners.
