Wintipak, Winterthur/Switzerland, has laid the foundation stone for a new production hall in Halle (Saale), thereby launching a further phase of its multi-year investment programme. The expansion at the site in the Star Park industrial estate is intended to increase capacity, improve security of supply and support long-term growth in Europe.

The company celebrated the official ground-breaking ceremony on 17 November 2025. According to information provided, the new building comprises around 11,800 square metres of additional production space as well as 800 square metres for offices, technology and storage. The investment amounts to around 35 million euros. Commissioning is scheduled for June 2026 and is expected to increase the site's production capacity by around 30 per cent.

Expansion emphasises the importance of the Halle site

Representatives from politics, business and local authorities attended the ceremony, including Sven Schulze, Minister of Economics, Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry of Saxony-Anhalt, and Halle's Mayor Egbert Geier. In his speech, Minister Schulze emphasised the regional relevance of the project:

„This further expansion of Wintipak is a clear commitment to Saxony-Anhalt as a future-orientated industrial location. It demonstrates the international competitiveness of our region and shows how successfully companies can grow here.“

Mayor Geier also emphasised the close connection between the company and the city:

„Wintipak's decision to expand again at Star Park emphasises the strength of our business location and the trust that companies have in the region, our city and our infrastructure.“

Efficient design and focus on future technologies

General contractor Goldbeck is realising the construction project with an industrially prefabricated construction system, which should enable rapid and consistent quality implementation. The modular construction method reduces the construction time and creates early capacity for further expansion of the site.

Wintipak has been present in Halle since 2013 and has developed the site into an efficient production centre, according to its own information. The expansion supports the strategic direction of building resilient and sustainable supply chains in Europe and reliably supplying global customers from the dairy, juice and beverage industries.

CEO Markku Vauhkonen explained:

„With this new production hall, we are investing in the future of our company and the region. It symbolises our commitment to innovation, growth and long-term stability for our customers and employees.“

Expansion strengthens development of sustainable aseptic packaging

With the expansion, the company is creating additional capacity for research, development and the use of new machines in the field of aseptic carton packaging. According to Wintipak, this includes advances in material efficiency, recyclable structures and energy-optimised production processes. The site will thus be better prepared for increasing market requirements and regulatory developments in the food and beverage industry.
