KIEFEL GmbH has received the ABB European Value Provider Award in the „Outstanding Performance“ category. The company uses ABB robots in the production of packaging made from natural fibres.
With this award, ABB emphasises the extensive robot-supported automation performance that Kiefel provides, particularly with the NATUREFORMER KFT 90 machine. With this machine, Kiefel has been making inroads into the new business field of „fibre thermoforming“, the thermoforming of packaging and other products based on natural fibres, for around a year.
More flexibility through automation
The machine manufacturer has already been relying on industrial robot technology from ABB for many years, but has now been able to expand the collaboration even further with regard to the sought-after fibre technology. In the KFT 90, ABB robots are used for tool handling and the pick-and-place of products. The systems not only enable Kiefel to realise shorter development times or faster commissioning for its customers, but also to adapt the machine more flexibly for other product variants.
Award ceremony under special circumstances
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year's award ceremony took place virtually and in a small circle at Kiefel. The award was presented to the Kiefel team on the ABB side by Gabi Guter-Johansen, Local Business Line Manager General Industry, and Sebastian Spanfelner, Senior Sales Manager.
