After winning the German Packaging Award, Aldi Süd has received another award for its Tandil 3-in-1 box: the detergent packaging, which consists of 92% recycled material, has been awarded the WorldStar Award by the World Packaging Organisation.
The discounter was able to secure the award in the category household secure. ‘We are proud that our Tandil 3-in-1 box has now also been recognised by an international jury of packaging experts. This shows that we are on the right track with our goal of continuously increasing the use of recycled material in our product packaging. We want to continue on this path consistently,‘' says Alexander Markov, Managing Director National Supply Chain Management at Aldi Süd.
Aldi Süd increases use of recyclate in packaging
As part of the Aldi packaging mission, the discounter is constantly increasing the proportion of recycled materials in its own-brand product packaging in order to make it as environmentally friendly as possible. The Targeted use of recycled plastic from the Yellow Bag or Yellow Bin for the first time in the detergent packaging of Tandil 3-in-1 Active Caps and Colour Caps was an important step in this direction. The packaging (without labels) consists of 92 per cent recycled polypropylene, the remaining eight per cent are additives, for example additives to stabilise the material. The solution was developed as part of the strategic partnership between Aldi and the Interseroh+ dual system of the recycling service provider Interzero.
