Xeikon presents TRANSFORM at Labelexpo Europe 2019

Xeikon launches TRANSFORM' at Labelexpo Europe (Bld : XEIKON)

With TRANSFORM, Xeikon is bringing a new consulting tool for label converters to Labelexpo Europe 2019, which takes place from 24 to 27 September in Brussels. At transform.xeikon.com, the company will provide the label industry with its expertise in the field of digital printing and offer insights into individual options for the further development of label printing.

Interested parties can now contact Xeikon via the website for advice on the ideal digital configuration for their company. All they have to do is answer a few questions. As a pioneer of the digital Full colour label printing Xeikon has extensive knowledge of the key factors for economically successful digital print production.

„With today's consumer-driven trends and increasingly diverse consumer behaviour, label converters are faced with a variety of issues. These include fluctuating volumes, a growing number of orders, large print runs in many different versions, personalisation requirements and just-in-time delivery. At the same time, of course, they need to keep operating costs effectively under control.

The digitalisation of print production helps them to successfully overcome these challenges,“ explains Filip Weymans, Xeikon VP Marketing. „Digital printing can be the key enabler to fundamentally change their business. However, this transformation depends on the individual business strategy, so there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Therefore, the right print technology, workflow, finishing and all other process steps need to be carefully selected. With TRANSFORM, Xeikon provides a guide to advise business owners in this process.“

„Xeikon has more than 30 years of experience in developing digital technologies for the labelling industry,“ continues Weymans continued. „We have the most comprehensive knowledge of the market. This enables us to give label converters tailored advice on how to get started with digital production or how to optimise their existing equipment. Based on the answers to five simple questions about their business, we provide personalised advice that enables them to choose the best business strategy from almost 200 different digital label production configurations.“

Live demo of popular digital printing configurations at Labelexpo Europe

With TRANSFORM providing label converters with in-depth insights into the possibilities of digital print production, Labelexpo Europe is the ideal forum to showcase what digital label print production could look like. These three popular configurations, which Xeikon will be demonstrating live at the show, are not to be missed:

1st Label Discovery Package: entry-level solution for 90 % of all end-user labelling applications
According to surveys, 25 % of all label manufacturers have not yet introduced digital technology. For these companies and for anyone else who wants to make money with just 1000 linear metres of labels per day, this starter package is the ideal solution. The Xeikon Label Discovery Package includes a Xeikon 3030 digital label press and a Xeikon Dcoat digital converting station with varnishing, semi-rotary die-cutter and rewinder. With an industrial printing machine, the corresponding consumables and the semi-rotary punching technology this package guarantees the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) in the entry-level segment of the market. The ability to work in both full colour and full colour+white mode allows it to address higher value markets with transparent or metallic substrates, covering 90 % of all label applications.

2nd Xeikon CX500: High-end print production of food and wine labels
The flagship Xeikon CX500 configuration is unrivalled in digital printing and ideal for label converters looking to take the next step in digital production and realise new applications and products. Thanks to its advanced technology, web width and very high printing speed, the Xeikon CX500 delivers the highest quality and productivity in digital printing for full colour+white jobs, large labels and multi-version long runs. Of all digital printing technologies, the dry toner used here offers the best food safety.

The Xeikon QB toner as the latest toner generation from Xeikon has been specially developed for food labelling and even takes into account the planned new regulations. The Xeikon CX500 also ensures maximum substrate versatility. It prints effortlessly on uncoated paper, which is commonly used for wines and spirits and is generally one of the most demanding substrates. At the same time, it ensures colour intensity and produces the top quality expected by this market.

3rd Xeikon PX3000: High-performance printing of durable labels in the health & beauty sector
The third configuration that Xeikon will present at Labelexpo includes the Xeikon PX3000 and its Panther UV inkjet technology. It is aimed primarily at end-use applications in the healthcare and cosmetics, premium beer, household chemicals and industrial markets. Panther UV inkjet technology is a reliable solution for label converters new to this segment and for label printers looking to optimise their digital production by eliminating varnishing and/or lamination. Xeikon's Panther Series UV inkjet presses offer the glossy look that is in demand for health and beauty labels and premium beer labels. In addition, the newly launched HAPTIC printing technology, to address this market even better with its unrivalled haptic print quality.

This premium tactile effect can be achieved effortlessly with the Xeikon PX3000 without special tools and without the set-up effort that would otherwise be required. High-performance, long-lasting labels place high demands on the durability of the ink and its adhesion to the substrate. The Xeikon Panther DuraCure technology, which realises curing with LED and mercury lamps in a single pass, guarantees precisely these properties. The combination of deep drying (LED) and surface drying (mercury lamps) produces a colour layer that is extremely resistant to chemicals, temperatures, sunlight and mechanical abrasion. These ongoing developments underline Xeikon's market leadership in UV inkjet label printing. The company already has more than 200 UV inkjet presses installed worldwide. This is the highest number since the acquisition of Jetrion and the launch of the Xeikon Panther Series.

Xeikon aXelerate: Always one step ahead

„What sets Xeikon apart from other competitors is that we have recognised the broader performance potential of digital printing. For example, colour matching across different presses, printing technologies and substrates is one of the biggest challenges in the market. As complicated as this may sound, Xeikon Colour Services offers a simple solution. They provide a method that allows colours to be matched across different substrates, for previously printed jobs regardless of the technology used, and between digital and conventional printing technologies.

Feedback from our customers shows us that Xeikon Colour Services are one of the most valuable tools in any label production, as they can save a lot of time and waste,“ explains Weymans. „At our stand, we will be demonstrating colour matching across various orders and different platforms. This will show that with the right tools, it is possible to reliably overcome even supposedly major challenges. You can be sure: Xeikon is ready and able to contribute to the transformation of the labelling industry at Labelexpo 2019 and beyond!“
