Zentek and Teufelberger are now joining forces in a co-operation project to transfer used polypropylene and PET strapping into a closed recycling loop.
Plastic strapping is an indispensable part of transport and logistics - but what happens after it has been used? Zentek and Teufelberger have found a joint answer to this question: In a co-operation project, the two companies are joining forces to transfer used polypropylene and PET strapping into a closed recycling loop. Materials that were previously unused or even disruptive are now being turned into new, high-quality packaging material. The programmes clozed loop (Zentek) and better.collect (Teufelberger) stand for one goal: Turning old into new - efficient, resource-saving and recyclable.
At the centre of the cooperation is the return of used strapping. Via an established take-back system, these are collected by specialised disposal partners, compacted into bales and handed over to Teufelberger. There, the quality-assured processing into high-quality regrind takes place - a Secondary raw material that is used directly for the production of new strapping. This creates a closed material cycle that saves resources and protects the environment.
Several hundred tonnes of material have already been recycled as part of the collaboration. Around 920 kilograms of secondary raw material can be obtained from 1,000 kilograms of pressed strapping material, which can be used directly for the production of new strapping.
