Around 180 interested participants from Germany and neighbouring countries came to the beautiful Allgäu region for two days of professional inspiration and ideal networking opportunities at the ZLV Packaging Symposium. The annual event organised by the Centre for Food and Packaging Technology (ZLV) covers current topics and innovations for the packaging of industrially produced food.
The Centre for Food and Packaging Technology e. V. (ZLV) is an interdisciplinary network in which important, forward-looking topics from the entire value chain in the food and packaging sector are addressed. Starting with the raw material through all processing stages to the retail shelf, including the circular economy.
The annual ZLV Packaging Symposium plays an important role in this context.
Here, 40 exhibitors present their latest technologies in the spacious rooms of Kempten University of Applied Sciences and offer an attractive platform for networking.
Packaging design in the spirit of true sustainability
This year's lecture programme started with the controversial topic of the resilience of complex value chains and how this can be improved with professional risk management. Uwe Melichar, Vice President of the European Brand & Packaging Design Association, addressed the topic of packaging design in terms of genuine sustainability. The final presentations, which were well received by the entire auditorium, covered climate neutrality and design for recycling, with Michaela Schmiedchen (Hochland) and Julian Thielen (Interseroh+) setting the tone.
After the Corona break, the best bachelor thesis of the „Food and Packaging Technology“ degree programme was once again awarded. The ZLV criteria: Innovation content, practical feasibility, relevance for the food and packaging industry and the final grade of the university, the jury saw Lisa Schwab's thesis with the topic: „Suitability test of an optical oxygen measurement method for leakage detection of MAP-packed gluten-free baked goods“ as being fulfilled in an outstanding way.
Next packaging symposium in September 2023
The ZLV team is already looking forward to the preparations for the next ZLV Packaging Symposium, which will take place on 14 and 15 September 2023 will once again take place at the university in Kempten and will certainly provide an inspiring forum.
