The North American Inteplast Group has acquired the German company Perga. The south-west German film manufacturer becomes the sixth production facility within Inteplast Engineered Films (IEF), a division of Inteplast based in the USA. The seller was the family-run Serafin Group based in Munich.

Perga was founded in 1970 and produces with Pergafilm, Allfolin and Pergaloop Films for bags and packaging for a wide range of markets. The company employs around 200 people in the district of Walldürn-Altheim.

Perga is an attractive target for his company due to its excellent reputation as a leader in the development of technical films, explained Inteplast President Dr John Young. Under the IEF umbrella, Perga's customer base will be Access to a broader international network for speciality film products and resources. Perga's commitment to quality and innovation complements Inteplast's approach of combining sustainability with the production of technical films.

The five IEF locations in the USA are located in Westborough, Massachusetts; Garland, Texas; Dalton, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; and Prattville, Alabama. In total, IEF employs almost 500 people, including the staff at Perga.

„Perga's 55-year history of manufacturing high-quality films fits perfectly with IEF's strategy. We see a strong mutual benefit in facilitating the introduction of Perga's exceptional products in the Americas and providing further solutions to our existing customers looking for ultra-thin, sustainable products.“

Bob Stein, President of IEF

Takeover as an opportunity for growth

„We are very pleased and proud to become part of the Inteplast family. It was clear from the beginning that there is a tremendous strategic fit and shared values. The merger will strengthen our strong market position. At the same time, it will accelerate the implementation of our internationalisation strategy.“
