With its RFID technology, Schreiner MediPharm, in conjunction with the KitCheck systems from Bluesight, offers a solution that optimises digital inventory control in hospital pharmacies.

Schreiner MediPharm has developed high-performance RFID labels that are precisely customised to the requirements of the KitCheck scanning stations and enable reliable identification of the medication containers. KitCheck is a system from the US market leader Bluesight for efficient and digital inventory management. To date, more than 325 million units of injectable emergency and anaesthesia drugs have been recorded with the system in 900 North American hospitals.

The particularly robust RFID labels can be applied in pharmaceutical production without any problems and are designed for high-speed labelling systems. Their specially developed Robust RFID structure permanently protects the chip from mechanical stress and functional failures. Thanks to their optimised design, the RFID labels can even be reliably applied to primary containers with tight radii such as vials or syringes. They also offer a wide range of additional functions such as integrated hangers, removable documentation parts or seals for tamper evidence.

In the application, the RFID labels can be placed in the KitCheck Scanning Stations automatically with the help of Bluesight's tracking software. The systems not only record the preparation itself, but also important information such as batch numbers, expiry dates, missing or expired medication or information on medication that has already been opened. The integrity of the containers can be monitored at unit level using an additional digital first-opening indication integrated into the label.

„The use of RFID technology allows medication stocks to be monitored in real time. This makes the work of hospital pharmacies easier and increases safety along the entire supply chain.“
