Schreiner Group is expanding its plant in Dorfen, Upper Bavaria, by around 40 per cent with a large-scale extension. The new part of the building creates additional production and logistics capacities and forms the basis for further growth of the packaging and specialist for high-tech labels.
Schreiner Group has expanded its Dorfen site by adding an extension with around 2,700 square metres of floor space. The extension was realised over the past one and a half years and has now been officially opened. The inauguration was attended by Managing Director Roland Schreiner, senior partner and building owner Helmut Schreiner and Dorfen's first mayor Heinz Grundner, among others. The expansion is the company's response to the dynamic development of the site since it went into operation in 2019.
Growth since site opening
Since opening, the Dorfen site has expanded significantly. The number of employees has risen from 25 to over 100. With the new part of the building, Schreiner Group is creating additional space for further growth and a future-orientated production structure. The expansion includes space for additional printing and finishing capacities, a reorganised shelf storage area, colour laboratories and extended social areas. The logistics zones for incoming and outgoing goods have also been redesigned.
Automation of production logistics
As part of the expansion, the company also presented a new driverless transport system. This is intended to automate the material flow between production and the warehouse in the future and make it more efficient. According to the company, initial test runs have already been successfully completed. The system is intended as an important building block for future production logistics at the Dorfen site.
Managing Director Roland Schreiner explained that the Dorfen site is an example of structured growth. With the extension and the planned automation steps, Schreiner Group is making targeted investments in efficiency, process quality and future viability. Senior partner Helmut Schreiner emphasised that the expansion was a clear commitment to the long-term growth of the family-owned company.
The investment was also viewed favourably by the local authorities. Mayor Heinz Grundner recognised the project as a strong signal for Dorfen as a business location and referred to the combination of structural expansion and innovative technology.
