The German Packaging Institute (dvi) has extended the submission deadline for the German Packaging Award 2026. Companies, institutions, and individuals from Germany and abroad can now register their packaging solutions until 5 June 2026. According to the dvi, the reason for this is the high workload of many companies around interpack as well as numerous current innovation projects.
According to the dvi, the German Packaging Award is counted among the largest European showcases for the packaging industry. Since its premiere in 1963, the competition has recognised innovative packaging solutions across different materials and segments. The awards will be presented in 2026 across ten categories, including Design, Sustainability, Digitalisation, Logistics & Material Flow, and Packaging Machines. Multiple submissions are also possible. There will again be a separate special category for pupils, students, and apprentices.
Expert jury evaluates according to fixed criteria
The submitted products, concepts, and prototypes will be reviewed by an independent jury. For this, the dvi [German Welding Society] relies on an annually newly composed panel of experts from industry, research, and academia. According to the organiser, the evaluation will be based on transparent and category-specific criteria.
Oliver Berndt, Head of Events & Marketing at the dvi, explains: „The German Packaging Award generates attention and prestige, motivates, rewards, and provides convincing, official arguments for sales and marketing.“
Announcement of the July winners
The winners of the German Packaging Award 2026 are to be announced on 30th July 2026. The official award ceremony is planned for November 2026. In addition, the jury may recognise particularly pioneering developments with a Gold Award.
According to the dvi, the winners of the German Packaging Award automatically qualify for the international WorldStar competition run by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO). The dvi will provide further information on how to participate. HERE ready.
