Masterbatch manufacturer Lifocolor will be presenting new colour, effect, and haptic solutions for plastic packaging in the cosmetics industry at Cosmetic Business 2026. The focus will be on PET bottles with an HDPE-like feel, recyclable metallic effects, and holographic looks. The company sees these as new opportunities to stage packaging more multisensorially at the point of sale.

Lifocolor is aiming to attract brand manufacturers, designers, and plastics processors in particular with its new solutions, who need to further develop packaging at the intersection of design, sustainability, and regulatory requirements. According to the company, the combination of colour, effects, and haptics is intended to particularly strengthen impulse buying.

PET bottles with an HDPE-like feel

At the centre of the trade fair appearance is a new solution for PET bottles, which, according to Lifocolor, creates a velvety-soft surface feel similar to that of HDPE extrusion blow moulded bottles. At the same time, the process advantages of the PET ISBM process are to be retained. The company also refers to possible material changes from HDPE to PET due to PPWR. Aspects such as recyclate availability, material efficiency, CO₂ footprint, and regulatory requirements could favour PET in the future.

Lifocolor will also showcase decorative laser markings from the LIFOLAS M product range. Ornaments or patterns are to be applied without printing inks or solvents.

Recyclable metallic and holographic effects

In view of the requirements of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the recyclability of decorative packaging is also coming more into focus, according to the company. Lifocolor is therefore presenting metallic masterbatches for mass colouring plastics, which are intended to enable metallic effects without galvanisation. According to the company, design requirements and recyclability can thus be better combined.

Furthermore, Lifocolor is showcasing holographic effects with iridescent glitter pigments. The effects are suitable for both injection moulding and blow moulding applications and can be used from a dosage of just two percent. According to the company, the solutions have approvals in accordance with EU Directive 10/2011 and FDA regulations for food contact.

The company is presenting its new products at Cosmetic Business 2026 on 10 and 11 June at the MOC event centre in Munich.
