In particular, we have also considered printing varnishes that are intended for direct contact with food,“ explains Dr Martin Kanert, Managing Director of EuPIA.
Printing inks for food contact materials
Inks, varnishes and coatings developed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements of this GMP will help the food contact materials manufacturer to market products that fully comply with the relevant European regulations for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. European legislation covers the European Framework Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004, which deals with the Safety of food contact materials and articles The GMP also refers to the European Plastics Regulation (EC) No. 10/2011, to opinions of the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) and to national regulations, such as the Swiss Ordinance on Printing Inks for Food Packaging.
