The paper manufacturer UPM is now also represented on the market for lightweight printing paper with a completely new product. The new UPM EcoLite paper has been specially developed to meet the various requirements of customers who print leaflets for medicines or manuals and instructions.
With the new paper, UPM's customers should be able to make significant cost savings compared to a conventional paper solution.
„The product is the result of intensive development work at our paper mill in Kaipola. The name UPM EcoLite alone makes it clear that the paper is not just a environmentally friendly solution, but it also offers our customers a cost-effective option. And without compromising on the reading experience or the folding properties of the end product,“ says Joonas Järvinen, New Business Development Manager at UPM Paper ENA.
UPM EcoLite is available in basis weights of 29, 32, 34 and 38 g/m². A paper that is lighter is automatically more environmentally friendly, as fewer raw materials, less water and less energy are required in production and transport.
„The development of lightweight paper is a prime example of resource efficiency - one of the cornerstones of our sustainable business activities. The advantage for our customers: They get the same print surface for which fewer materials need to be used. At the same time, the overall environmental impact of production and the supply chain is significantly reduced,“ continues Järvinen.
UPM's achievements and continuous efforts in the area of corporate responsibility have been recognised by various international bodies in recent years. For the fifth time in a row, the Group has been included in the European DJSI as a leading company in the paper and forestry sector. In January 2016, UPM became the first forestry company to join the UN Global Compact LEAD.
