Since October 2017, FachPack has had a new event manager. Cornelia Fehlner has set out to further strengthen the industry event. Before the start of the trade fair, we asked her about what she has already achieved, her goals and expectations.

pj: Ms Fehlner, trade fairs are an important platform where all relevant market players can network and customer relationships can be established or maintained. What new impetus have you been able to provide?

Cornelia Fehlner: From my work as a business promoter, I know how important trade fairs are for companies. It was therefore important to me to create sufficient opportunities for dialogue, information and inspiration in addition to the exhibitors' stands. That is why we have organised the Cooperation with associations intensified and the Expanded supporting programme. The forums, special shows, joint stands and lounges at FachPack invite visitors to listen, be inspired, discuss and get to know each other.

pj: In the past, thematic focal points have grown organically in certain halls. Now the hall planning has been completely revised and organised thematically. What expectations do you have of this?

Cornelia Fehlner: This year, FachPack has once again grown by an entire hall to a total of twelve exhibition halls. With 1,600 exhibitors, it is important for visitors to find the companies, specialist presentations and special shows that are relevant to them as quickly as possible. „Find instead of search“ is the motto. The New and clear division of the trade fair into „Packaging and processes“ and „Technology and processes“ helps with this. The thematic focus of the individual halls or the industry compass on the website also help. For example, if someone from the medical technology sector is looking for packaging solutions, they will immediately know that they should head for Hall 3A first. Anyone interested in packaging printing and finishing should head for the newly occupied Hall 8 with its special Premium Packaging show.

pj: When you look back on the last few months, what was the biggest challenge?

Cornelia Fehlner: Even before I started working at NürnbergMesse, the FachPack team led by Heike Slotta had already The 2017 break year was used intensively to further develop the trade fair. The biggest challenge for me since October has been to keep an eye on all these newly initiated projects and further developments and to keep the threads in hand. We are now at the finishing line and my impression is that the effort has been worth it. I'm really looking forward to when things finally get underway at the end of September.

pj: So you're already looking forward to the opening. What is particularly important for you at the first trade fair under your management?

Cornelia Fehlner: It is particularly important to me to talk to as many representatives of companies, associations and publishers as possible. Because once a year, the European packaging industry comes to Nuremberg. And we don't miss out on this opportunity. Only if we know what our customers want can we successfully develop FachPack further.

With the reorganised hall planning, FachPack 2018 also offers an expanded Supporting programme to.
