At Fakuma 2018 in Friedrichshafen, Engel is further reducing the cycle time in the production of beverage closures. On an all-electric Engel e-cap 2440/380, 26 mm caps including tamper-evident band made of HDPE are produced under real production conditions with a cycle time of less than 2 seconds.
Responsible for the increase in performance are the optimised movement profiles. The Engel e-cap 380 with a clamping force of 3800 kN achieves a drying time of just 1.4 seconds. According to the company, the Engel e-cap is the only sealing machine on the market that can be used in the high clamping force range up to 4200 kN is fully electric, which makes it the most energy-efficient machine in its class. According to the company, the e-cap presented at Fakuma for processing one kilogramme of granulate only requires around 0.4 kWh of electricity despite its considerable output.

Integrated system solution
A 72-cavity mould from z-moulds (Dornbirn, Austria) will be used at the trade fair. In terms of peripherals, the exhibit includes a dry air system from Blue Air Systems (Kundl, Austria) and a camera inspection system from IMDvista (Brügg, Switzerland). As a system solution provider, Engel supplies fully integrated and automated production cells worldwide from a single source. If the injection moulding machine, the mould and the peripheral systems are coordinated with each other from the start of the project, the Efficiency potential and reduce total energy consumption to a minimum.
