The automation of material handling processes in plastics processing is gaining increasing importance, especially in times of scarce resources and rising efficiency demands. Wittmann has responded to these challenges with the introduction of a new automatic sack emptying station, specifically developed for the granulate supply of injection moulding machines.
Granule supply in injection moulding operations is a time- and labour-intensive process, especially with a large number of machines and materials to be processed. This brings the automation of material handling into sharper focus. With the new solution, Wittmann is now starting to automate at the emptying of granule bags. The bags are completely automatically de-stacked from the pallet, opened, emptied, and disposed of.
Flexibility through modular construction
A key feature of the new solution is its flexibility. The automatic bag emptying station has a modular design, meaning it can be adapted to the specific requirements of each processor. As standard, the station is equipped with two pallet parking spaces and a linear robot. The robot detects the position of the bags on the pallet, enabling efficient and safe handling, even of partially used pallets. The integrated R9 control system ensures intuitive operation and simplifies integration into existing IT infrastructures.
Recycle empty bags inline
Another advantage of the new bag emptying station is the ability to recycle empty bags directly on-site. Optionally, a grinder can be integrated, which shreds the emptied bags, thereby supporting the recycling process. This aligns with current industry trends, which increasingly focus on environmental protection and resource conservation.
Market launch in Germany
Wittmann is initially offering the new bag emptying station on the German market. The manufacturer of injection moulding machines, robots and peripheral equipment relies on advanced process technologies that ensure the highest energy efficiency in the injection moulding process. The products of the Wittmann Group are designed to be integrated into a Smart Factory, enabling an intelligent production cell.
