The right equipment is one of the top priorities for chocolate producers, regardless of whether they are a multinational corporation or a medium-sized company. The RCB-HS from Loesch Verpackungstechnik GmbH, Altendorf, for small chocolate items and bars combines a premium look with the best product protection thanks to a tightly sealed pack style all round.

Perfect product protection and a premium look for high-quality chocolates are just as important as efficient and flexible production and packaging. With the further development of the RCB-HS, which was presented for the first time at interpack 2017, the Franconian packaging machine specialists combine precisely these requirements.

"The extremely compact RCB-HS machine platform is trimmed for high performance and reliably and flexibly handles primary packaging in modern chocolate production," emphasises Managing Director Dr Thomas Cord out.

The innovative concept has been continuously developed to market maturity since the prototype was presented. "Since its successful market launch, the platform has established itself on the market within a very short space of time and the concept has been a great success, particularly in the following areaswhere the climatic conditions require tightly sealed packaging", says Cord proudly. Consumers benefit from products with an extended shelf life and an optimised taste and texture experience. The chocolate products are presented in the High-quality folded lookwhich has characterised LoeschPack as the world market leader in this segment for decades.

"With its output of up to 600 packaged products per minute, the RCB-HS is unrivalled in the chocolate industry. In a variant for open folding, we even achieve speeds of up to 800 products per minute", emphasises Cord.

Small panels with a larger format range

With a larger format range and slightly reduced output capacity, the RCB-H version of the R-Series machine is perfect for the Efficient packaging of small chocolate bars suitable - a packing style that is becoming increasingly popular. Hence the company's move to expand the platform in various directions: "Loesch is working specifically on the further development of the R-Series and expands the portfolio in terms of format range, folding and performance parameters, as well as the processing of alternative packaging materials such as organic films," explains Cord.

"The machines from the R-Series have the typical features of a Loesch machine: Quick and easy format changes in a large format rangehigh efficiency and performance, outstanding operability and accessibility as well as optimised hygiene properties," explains Thomas Cord.

The set-up time for a format change is around 60 minutes, and belt changes and cleaning work can normally be carried out without tools. The machine also impresses with its high availability, which results from the high-quality construction in combination with long cleaning and maintenance intervals.

High-quality look thanks to classic pleats

The RCB-HS works continuously and produces the fold wrap in a packaging head. The packaging material is circumferentially sealed hot or optionally cold. The sealing jaws always seal packaging material against packaging material, whereby the High tightness the packaging is secured and a Thermal damage to the products excluded can be realised.

For an optimised appearance, the sealed film areas in the dispensing segment are carefully attached to the underside of the packaging using sealing jaws. An opening aid or an optional tear strip as well as an integrated tear aid can also be applied.

"We dispense with any glue applications for sealing the pack. This reduces soiling of the machine, minimises operating costs and simplifies operation of the RCB-HS," says Cord.
