Fully automated production plant for printing inks from Siegwerk

Siegwerk, one of the world's leading suppliers of printing inks for packaging applications and labels, has opened a new fully automated plant for the production of customer inks at its headquarters in Siegburg in the presence of invited guests. This new blending centre is now the largest fully automated production facility for printing inks in the whole of Europe.

The new mixing plant is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and is therefore an example of networked Industry 4.0. Digitalisation and automation play a central role for us. We have to consider at various levels which opportunities we want to seize, in which direction we want to develop and where exactly we want to invest. The new facility is one of the answers to this,“ continues Forker. The new blending centre is already running successfully in test mode and will soon be able to run at full capacity.

The new mixing plant meets all current legal requirements and offers the advantage of absolutely consistent product quality thanks to highly reliable, standardised processes as well as stable delivery performance thanks to expanded capacities.

Compared to the previous production set-up, the processes are now even more efficient and transparent, clearly increasing the site's productivity. In addition, the new system enables an even Safer and cleaner production than before and thus supports Siegwerk's endeavours for a Increased sustainability.

In order to provide its customers with the best possible paints and varnishes in proven Siegwerk quality over the years, the company has built up a broad, global production and service network.

Today this consists of 16 main colour production plants centres of excellence, in which the basic products are manufactured to a uniform standard worldwide, and 50 Mixing and dosing systems The blending centres are where the final production takes place worldwide and the colour solutions are adapted to individual customer requirements.
