Follmann has added new water-based printing inks to its range. They are suitable for flexible packaging made of plastic and aluminium as well as for packaging made of paper or cardboard.
The new range includes Optimised pigment concentrates, which are universally suitable as base components for many applications. Coloured concentrates and system blends are used to produce a ready-to-print ink that is optimally adjusted to the intended field of application and the technical printing conditions. The combination of specially produced binders with raw materials available on the market has led to a new type of product quality.
„We are constantly working on further developing our products and making them even better - especially with regard to their sustainability. We are therefore delighted to offer our customers New water-based printing inks for gravure and flexographic printing for various applications.“ Roland Geiselhart, Director Business Unit Print + Packaging at Follmann.
For flexible packaging and more
In the field of flexible packaging, the potential for Print speed. „However, optimised machine parameters combined with our latest ink qualities now enable a production speed that corresponds to the usual or expected printing speed in almost all cases,“ explains Roland Geiselhart. In addition, ready-to-print primer white types are available for flexible packaging, both for frontal printing applications and for interlayer printing.
In addition, Follmann offers other specialities such as a solvent-free primer for aluminium applications on. This can be overprinted with water-based or solvent-based printing inks. The advantage of the primer is the avoidance of solvents in the product and their emission during processing. Even if solvent-based inks are used for further printing. Another new addition to the portfolio is a VOC-free white for shrink sleeve applications. This can also be used in combination with both water-based and solvent-based printing inks.
Follmann has also expanded its range of water-based printing inks to include Printing inks for printing on paper and cardboard expanded and optimised. This opens up a wide range of applications, such as the printing of bakery bags, wrapping paper or corrugated cardboard in direct and pre-printing.
Water-based printing inks, pollutant-free and cost-efficient
Follmann printing inks offer high colour quality and brilliance. They are VOC-free formulation and thus contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions. For the user, all explosion protection measures that are mandatory when using solvent-based systems are also eliminated. The transport of aqueous paint systems harbours No hazard potential with regard to fire or explosion. In addition, the user is not exposed to any solvent emissions on site. By eliminating solvent emissions, they offer added value in terms of occupational health and safety in the workplace.
As thermal exhaust air purification (post-combustion) is not required when processing water-based printing inks, the overall costs are drastically reduced. Furthermore, no additional solvent is required for dilution and permanent adjustment of the required printing viscosity; water fulfils this function.
