Innovia Films has launched SLF, a new mono-material barrier film to replace PVdC-coated films. It has been specially developed for use on high-speed packaging lines.

SLF is the latest film in the new Propafilm Strata series transparent packaging films with high barrier and monostructure from the British film manufacturer Innovia Films. According to the manufacturer, the chlorine-free film offers exceptional barrier values for oxygen, moisture, flavours and mineral oils. It was developed with a wide sealing range and is therefore perfect for high-speed packaging of biscuits, bakery and confectionery products on horizontal form-fill-seal machines.

„With SLF, we were able to develop a completely new barrier film that not only has an excellent oxygen and flavour barrier compared to standard polypropylene films, but also an improved moisture barrier. This means that there is an opportunity to extend the shelf life of products and therefore reduce food waste. The new barrier film is the perfect replacement for PVdC-coated films.“ Alasdair McEwen, Global Product Manager Packaging at Innovia Films

One has a polymer with a wide sealing window integrated into the formulation of SLF. The film has therefore been specially developed for use on horizontal high-speed packaging lines. Like all Propafilm Strata-SLF offers a very effective barrier for flavours and oxygen even at high relative humidity. The new film is printable, glossy and globally food compliant.
