An international packaging and paper company becomes a large-scale producer of medical face masks. Mondi can now produce up to one million masks per day at its Gronau site.
The expertise is there and the demand is great. In this respect, it is a logical step that the international packaging and paper company Mondi has now taken. The company, which is one of the largest employers in the region with around 800 employees, is characterised by its many years of experience in the production and processing of films, nonwovens and elastic components for hygiene products.
Up to 700 masks per minute
Mondi Gronau has now commissioned a new production facility for the manufacture of filter fleece and medical face masks. The production volume comprises 700 masks per minute as well as the in-house production of the important base material, the nonwoven filter material.
Managing Director Jürgen Schneider presented the new production facility to the public at a press event, thereby also giving the go-ahead for the establishment of a local value chain.
We are experts in hygiene applications and can draw on 50 years of production experience at this location. This fully integrated production of medical face masks with the help of two highly automated high-speed machines lays the foundation for the highest quality mask production "Made in Germany"
Masks certified as a medical device
The masks are certified as a medical product by the German Johner Institute as well as being OEKO-TEX and Dermatest certified. Mondi Gronau is thus targeting the German healthcare sector: Hospitals, pharmacies and specialised medical retailers.
