SIG is further expanding its global production network with a new packaging materials plant in Queretaro, Mexico. It is intended to serve the North American markets and will enable the company to continue its strong growth in North America.
Thanks to the existing sales and service presence SIG In Mexico, a large and growing market for dairy products, SIG has established good relationships with major dairies. In the USA, SIG has a well-established customer base, including co-packers, and is ideally placed to serve innovative and expanding product categories.
New packaging materials plant: opening planned for 2023
SIG will invest around 40 million euros in the new packaging materials plant between 2021 and 2023. The investment includes state-of-the-art production capacities for printing, cutting and finishing cardboard packaging. The plant is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2023 and will create around 200 new jobs. The construction of this highly flexible facility will place a particular focus on ergonomics and sustainability. The land and building will be financed via a long-term lease agreement with a capital value of around 20 million euros.
