Compostable pigments certified by Clariant

Clariant's compostable pigments have now been certified by TÜV AUSTRIA. With the OK compost Industrial label, they can be used for colouring compostable plastic packaging.

Clariant's compostable pigments have now been certified by TÜV AUSTRIA. With the "OK compost Industrial" label, they can be used for colouring compostable plastic packaging.

To achieve sustainability goals and fulfil the obligations of the circular plastics economy, manufacturers of plastic articles are increasingly using polymers that are compostable. Clariant's Pigments business unit is contributing to this growth in compostable plastic articles with a range of certified OK compost Industrial pigments, offering customers New colouring options.

Compostable pigments for more sustainability

Nine selected products from the PV Fast and Graphtol range from Clariant are now labelled OK compost Industrial, which fully meet the requirements of EU standard EN 13432: 2000 if the maximum concentration in the end application is not exceeded. They therefore make an important contribution to sustainability.

For the pigment powders in the product ranges PV Fast and Graphtol it is about high-performance organic pigments. Both product ranges are used in various applications in the consumer goods sector, for example in sensitive Packaging with food contact, Plastic crockery or toys.

The colouring of biodegradable polymers requires that the pigments fulfil certain properties in order to be considered compostable, including a low heavy metal and fluorine content and no ecotoxicity to plants.
