Together with Interseroh, cheese manufacturer Hochland has improved the recyclability of its „Grünländer“ packaging and has now been awarded the environmental service provider's „Made for Recycling“ seal of approval.
The new „Grünländer“ cheese packaging is made from the polyolefins polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE). The paper label has also been replaced by a PP label. With the thinnest possible barrier layers, the packaging offers maximum product protection and minimum contamination for the recyclate. As a result, the packaging received 19 out of a possible 20 points and is „made for recycling“.
The award is based on a scientific evaluation method developed by Interseroh together with the bifa environmental institute and confirmed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV.
