The drugstore chain dm has opted for packaging from Maag GmbH for some of its organic products. They save a quarter of the weight and should enable better recyclability.

Various challenges need to be overcome in order to achieve climate neutrality. With regard to plastic packaging, the total quantity must be reduced and recyclability ensured.

The new material of the organic products from dm was designed to minimise the use of resources in accordance with „design for recycling rules“ so that it combines resource conservation and recyclability.

Mixed compound becomes a substance

According to the manufacturer, the switch to „maag I pro-tect barrier“ saves 25% in weight. Production is organised according to demand with highly efficient processes that avoid surpluses. This conserves valuable resources.

Display

Previously consisting of a mixed PET/aluminium/PE composite and therefore not recyclable, the switch to single-material composites made of polypropylene has been made. This means that this packaging is recyclable.
