Illig expands virtual services

Illig is expanding its remote diagnostics for remote maintenance of production systems with new virtual services, using augmented reality (AR) devices and modern, accessible software solutions.

Illig is expanding its remote diagnostics for remote maintenance of production systems with new virtual services. Augmented reality (AR) devices and modern, accessible software solutions now make it possible to implement technical measures and carry out tests in the Illig Technology Centre (ITC) remotely in real time.

Machine acceptance or Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) by the customer and the subsequent commissioning at the customer's premises are usually carried out directly on site with the physical presence of all responsible persons. For years now, Illig has been offering the option of carrying out these complex processes in the Online mode to be carried out. Until now, this has involved direct exchange via portable devices such as smartphones, tablets and high-end cameras in real time. 

Illig relies on AR glasses and accessible software

With AR technology, Illig is expanding its digital service offering with the help of Microsoft HoloLens2. These mixed reality glasses allow the user to display interactive 3D projections in their immediate surroundings. Adapted to Illig's requirements, the glasses can be used to, for example Trials in the ITC with direct transmission to the customer possible. They can actively participate in real time from their location using Microsoft Teams via smartphone, tablet or PC. Other applications using this technology include FATs, customer training sessions and live product presentations.

An additional option for barrier-free live communication for ad hoc support is the use of the Inosoft i40 software portal as a Extended support solution. The web-based real-time support enables simple and fast direct contact with moving images and sound to the customer without the need to install special software.
