In injection moulding processing, mixing ratios are often set manually. Together with Werner Koch Maschinentechnik, ENGEL Austria has developed an OPC UA-based communication model that automates this process.
With its service-orientated, platform-independent and freely scalable structure OPC UA offers both flexibility and data security. The communication model is increasingly becoming the standard in the injection moulding industry.
Even today, the mixing ratio of base material, additives and masterbatches is still set manually in many applications. This usually requires a separate control unit on the injection moulding machine. The integration of the dosing and mixing units into the machine control system offers the advantage that the part data set and therefore also the mixing ratio can be set manually when the mould is clamped. recipe can be transferred directly to the dosing device and the mixing ratio can be set automatically. becomes.
ENGEL Injection moulding machines can already address a whole range of peripheral devices via OPC UA. These include Temperature control units, hot runners and LSR dosing systems, for which there are also EUROMAP recommendations. Dosing and mixing devices for thermoplastics have now been added. Standardised interfaces simplify cross-manufacturer communication within the production cell. Together with other companies in the plastics industry, ENGEL is therefore strongly committed to standardisation.
