Coveris expands capacity at Kufstein site

Packaging manufacturer Coveris is continuing the modernisation of its Kufstein site with a 5-layer silage stretch line that recently went into full operation. The investment is also intended to form the basis for product innovations in the area of sustainability.

According to Coveris, it is one of the top 5 manufacturers of silage films in the world. The production of stretch films for agricultural use is naturally subject to seasonal fluctuations and is also extremely time-critical. This results in High requirements in terms of efficiency.

Multi-layer stretch films, such as those that can be produced with the new system at Coveris in Kufstein, allow the Combination of several different functional material layers. Coveris is also using this fact to promote the „No Waste“ vision of the company. This is done, for example, by integrating a recycled layer of PCR material into film solutions.

„We have succeeded, Recyclate from old films without any loss of performance into a new silage film,“ says Vollmer. „In addition, we only use electricity from renewable energy sources for our production. Both of these factors contribute to the conservation of resources and a small but not insignificant contribution to CO2 reduction in the agricultural sector."
