
Mondi has developed recyclable packaging for the Japanese consumer goods company Kao and the hair cosmetics brand Goldwell. The stand-up pouches are lightweight, made of mono-material and are therefore recyclable. They also reduce the amount of plastic used by 80 per cent.
Mondi has teamed up with Kao to develop a recyclable, lightweight packaging solution for its Goldwell hair lightening products. The new stand-up pouch Reduces plastic consumption without compromising on strength and durability to be used. The hair lightening products were previously packaged in rigid plastic containers. Now Kao is reducing the total amount of plastic in individual packaging by 80 per cent.
Easy handling
The solution packs the powder into Flexible, resealable stand-up pouches made of mono-material and are therefore recyclable. The bag is provided to the user together with paper instructions in a cardboard box, which allows the bag to be stacked during storage and results in lower CO2-footprint compared to previous packaging alternatives.

The empty bags can be folded flat to ensure efficient transport to the factory. When filled, they offer Protect the product and prevent contact with penetrating moisture or vapours. Chemicals cannot diffuse through the tightly sealed packs. The packaging with a recyclable top slider and a temperature-resistant membrane can be conveniently and easily resealed.
