This year's communication campaign by Forum Rezyklat, together with the „Waste separation works“ initiative, aims to motivate consumers to correctly separate recyclable packaging from residual waste. Companies such as Aldi, dm, Edeka, Globus, Rossmann on the retailer side and Beiersdorf, Bübchen, Coca Cola, Henkel and L'Oreal on the manufacturer side are involved.

Packaging made from recycled materials is good for the environment, as a study conducted by the Öko-Institut in May this year shows. The Use of recyclate continues to increase for the production of new packaging. This is demonstrated, for example, by the study commissioned by BKV GmbH entitled „Material flow picture of plastics in Germany“.

However, the proportion of new plastics still predominates in packaging production. One reason for this: There is a lack of sufficient quantities of recyclate. The in Forum Recyclate The companies united in this organisation are therefore jointly developing consumer-friendly and practical strategies and solutions to promote the recovery of this sustainable recyclable material. Consumers also play an important role here, the more thoroughly you separate your household waste, the more plastics can be recycled again. With the 2022 information campaign, the alliance therefore wants to emphasise the importance of the circular economy and the correct separation of packaging and motivate consumers to separate packaging in a recycling-friendly way.
