Syntegon posts double-digit growth in the third quarter

Syntegon presents a new solution for handling and portioning biscuits and crackers. The company promises maximum overall system efficiency in the smallest possible space.
The Syntegon IDH is based on a newly developed picker technology that utilises linear motors. This flexible pick-and-place solution not only enables particularly gentle product handling, but also a compact design with high performance and the ability to load different products both horizontally and vertically.
Gentle handling thanks to linear motor technology
The linear motorised bar forms the heart of the new system. With a nominal 30 cycles per minute, the up to 40 pickers on the bar pick products from the process belt and place them in a feeder or trays. Thanks to the slow and flowing movements of the linear motor movers, the biscuits and crackers are handled with minimal mechanical stress and with little use of vacuum. According to the company, this prevents breakage or damage to the product surface.
Increase process performance
In addition to gentle handling, the IDH also scores highly in terms of product and pack style flexibility. The number of vacuum grippers can be customised depending on the product and production volume. For example, manufacturers can increase the number of vacuum grippers to up to 40 as process output increases. When integrated into horizontal packaging lines, the IDH also enables a high degree of pack style flexibility.
Despite its compact dimensions, the IDH achieves a maximum output of up to 800 products per minute.
The new system will be shown for the first time in conjunction with a flow-wrapping machine at Pack Expo in Chicago.
