Together with three large Nordic agricultural cooperatives, film manufacturer Trioworld is converting the bale wrap film market in Sweden, Norway and Denmark to recyclate-based material in order to reduce the climate impact of agriculture.
Trioworld, supplier of sustainable polythene film solutions for the agricultural sector, wants to switch the market to film solutions with recycled content as part of a partnership with the major Nordic agricultural co-operatives Lantmännen in Sweden, Felleskjöpet in Norway and Hornsyld Købmandsgaard in Denmark. Trioworld calls these products based on PCR material "loop products" (PCR = Post-Consumer Recyclates, material that has already been used for its intended purpose).
The project will be implemented in a three-year plan by continuously replacing products made from fossil raw materials with PCR-based productsThe aim is to have a complete portfolio of bale packaging based on recycled material available by 2025. The first step will be to replace the standard film (25µ, 1500m), which will be available exclusively with recycled content in the coming 2023 season.
"We have succeeded in developing products that not only have the same wrapping performance and mechanical properties as a regular film, but have also been certified by RecyClass and tested for silage quality by an independent research institute. The 25µ loop wrapping film has been on the market since 2019 and has proven itself worldwide with consistently positive feedback."

All products in this Trioworld Loop range contain At least 30 per cent PCR material obtained from used agricultural filmwhich not only promotes the circular economy in agriculture, but also reduces CO2-footprint has been significantly reduced. A life cycle assessment is available for all Loop productswhich are aimed at reducing CO2-footprint compared to the same bale wrap film made from fossil raw materials. By switching to a 25µ loop bale wrap film, a reduction of around 30 per cent is achieved. The positive feedback and rapid development have led to loop products also being available for 21µ film and wrapping film for the coming season.
