To enable the efficient production of small and medium-sized e-commerce packaging, Bobst has worked closely with Bourquin to expand the production capabilities of its Expertfold 165.
The growth in online retail and the desire to be able to produce sustainable packaging whose sizes and intended use can be customised to suit the contents are leading to to an increasing demand for small and medium-sized shipping packaging. Bobst has developed a special configuration of the Expertfold 165 folder gluer in order to meet the requirements of the market and to enable a long-standing partner to achieve greater efficiency in its production. The company has thus further increased the attractiveness of this versatile folder-gluer for corrugated board and laminated corrugated board.
Bourquin SA, based in Couvet, Switzerland, is a provider of packaging solutions for e-commerce, pharmaceutical companies, chemicals and other industrial sectors. In view of the growing demand for e-commerce packaging Bourquin was looking for ways to optimise the production of small and medium-sized cartons.

The engineers from Bobst integrated the Polyvacuum and Gyrobox modules into the Expertfold 165 folder-gluer and tested the new machine configuration at the plant in Couvet. The folder-gluer is now fully integrated into Bourquin's machine portfolio. It offers the company the necessary productivity and flexibility to meet current and future market requirements.
„With the new production line, we have increased our productivity by up to 80 per cent. It is easy to operate, works efficiently and produces boxes of first-class quality - fully meeting our expectations.“
Luis Manuel Luis, Production Manager at the Bourquin plant in Couvet
In the meantime, Bobst has the e-commerce version of the Expertfold 165 officially added to its product portfolio for folding carton gluing.
