FKuR's sustainable raw material solutions for the packaging industry focus on innovative, resource-saving packaging plastics such as high-quality, natural-coloured recyclates and bio-based, dishwasher-safe bioplastic compounds, which are particularly suitable for the reusable sector.
Terralene rPP, for example, is a product family of hybrid compounds based on polypropylene (PP) that combines the ecological benefits of recyclates and bio-based raw materials with very good recyclability. Depending on the product type, the recycled content ranges from 30 to 60 per cent and comes from post-consumer waste streams. The bio-based proportion is up to 33 per cent. All compounds in the Terralene rPP product range FKuRs are characterised by a natural to white appearance. This means they can be coloured in a variety of ways (image) and offer packaging manufacturers new possibilities in terms of design freedom. Thanks to the natural colour and good flowability of the granules, the compounds can be used in a wide range of applications, but are currently still limited to the non-food sector.
The injection moulding grade Terralene rPP 3508 is a new addition to the portfolio. Optimum process capability on standard machines is characterised. Thanks to the compounding process specially adapted to the raw material, an MFI of 20 grams/10 minutes (in accordance with ISO 1133) can be achieved despite the high recycled content of 60 per cent.
