Speciality label supplier CCL Label is bringing sustainable and digital labelling solutions and innovative printing technologies to interpack. Various solutions simplify the recycling of primary packaging, among other things.
At the centre of the CCL-The "Sustainable Label Family", which shows labels and sleeves that have been developed for better recycling of primary packaging such as PET bottles, returnable glass bottles and other types of packaging such as HDPE and PP containers, will be on display at the 2nd exhibition. The labels have special integrated functions that support the sorting and recycling phases by easily detaching, floating or shrinking.
"Many of the solutions in the sustainable label family, such as the low-density polyolefin EcoFloat shrink sleeve, the Pressure-Sensitive Label (PSL) label for returnable glass bottles, WashOff, and EcoStream, which was developed for recycling PET bottles, have been endorsed by the European PET Bottle Platform (EPBP) and follow the recommendations of RecyClass. We are active members of these organisations to ensure that our label innovations comply with the official Design for Recycling guidelines, as we want to support the increase in recycling of FMCG products."

Display"Reusable systems, as we have already seen with beer and water for example, are on the rise in many countries as legislation changes and awareness of sustainable solutions grows. We are proud that we have established CCL WashOff labels on the market for many years and that they have proven themselves with major brands through their excellent performance in the washing and filling lines."

The company will premiere the currently thinnest stretch sleeve available on the market The sleeve has a thickness of 30 microns. It was specially developed for 1-litre PET returnable bottles, which are typically used in the German mineral water market. This decoration technology has a low CO2-footprint, as the material is thin and applied to the container without the use of heat or energy The sleeve connects to the container through its own elasticity.
"This extremely thin stretch sleeve is a very sustainable solution. At 30 microns, it is much thinner than the standard 45-micron sleeves that are usually used, which means that much less raw material is required to produce this sleeve. This helps to minimise CO2-footprint of the product. We have calculated that beverage brands can save up to 32 tonnes of plastic material per 100 million sleeves - roughly equivalent to the weight of more than 5 adult African elephants."

"Printing technology is constantly evolving and CCL ensures that we invest in the latest technologies to provide the best possible service to our customers. We have expanded our digital and hybrid capabilities and can combine different technologies. This takes us far beyond conventional printing and enables us to deliver outstanding print results, such as highly finished sleeves that make an excellent impact on the retail shelf!"
