Bobst presents itself as a partner at interpack

Bobst's highlights at the trade fair include sustainable packaging, the with oneBARRIER solutions, as well as daily live demos with a Bobst laminating machine.

At interpack 2023 (4 - 10 May in Düsseldorf), Bobst innovations - both packaging samples and machines - will be on display at many exhibition stands. Bobst experts will be on site at the trade fair to discuss the benefits of the innovations with visitors.

Several companies will be exhibiting packaging samples produced with oneBARRIER PrimeCycle on their stands. oneBARRIER PrimeCycle is a system developed by Bobst and its industry partners has developed a polymer-based monomaterial that is recyclable and at the same time has excellent barrier properties - making it a potentially ground-breaking development in the field of sustainable packaging. As a fully effective PE barrier solution free of EVOH and cover layers, oneBARRIER PrimeCycle is an alternative to metallised polyester films.

oneBARRIER PrimeCycle samples will be on display at the following trade fair stands:

Display

  • Poplasta manufacturer of flexible packaging from Italy, will present oneBARRIER PrimeCycle packaging samples, including stick packs for coffee. Gravure printing with oneECG was also used in the production of these samples. This Bobst technology for printing with a fixed colour set guarantees maximum colour stability for brand colours. At the same time, it reduces waste. Hall 8a, Stand B11.
  • Mespackan international manufacturer of machines for the production of flexible packaging with headquarters in Spain and production sites in Des Plaines / USA and Vadodara / India, will use a new vertical machine developed for the pharmaceutical industry to form, fill and seal samples of stick packs for pharmaceutical products. This packaging was also produced from oneBARRIER PrimeCycle material and printed using gravure printing with oneECG technology. The new machine will be demonstrated daily in live demos and networked with a cartoning machine. Hall 6, Stand B57-B73.
  • Dow Packaging and Speciality Plastics will present sample bags made from oneBARRIER PrimeCycle for coffee and fine nuts as well as stick packs for pharmaceutical products and coffee. The company is one of the world's largest manufacturers of polyethylene resins and developer of the film technology that made the oneBARRIER PrimeCycle project possible. Hall 9, Stand A30.
  • Sun Chemical will also be showing the oneBARRIER PrimeCycle sample packaging for coffee and premium nuts. The company is a leading supplier of printing inks, coatings and adhesives. It has developed a fundamentally important adhesive for the oneBARRIER PrimeCycle project and is also one of the industry partners in the field of primers. Hall 7a, Stand B03.

With oneBARRIER FibreCycle, the oneBARRIER product family also includes a high-barrier, recyclable paper-based solution that was developed in response to the industry's growing demand for paper-based packaging options.

  • UPM Speciality Papersa leading manufacturer of papers for packaging and labelling, will present samples of packaging produced with this innovative paper-based solution in Düsseldorf. The company is a key partner of Bobst and Michelman in the development of oneBARRIER FibreCycle. Hall 8A, Stand F29.

"All oneBARRIER packaging samples shown at interpack were produced and printed under real production conditions. So we can say with certainty that their quality and barrier effectiveness are maintained throughout all production steps"explains Sara Alexander, Marketing Manager Flexible Packaging at Bobst. "This allows us to bring them to market."

Other solutions on show at interpack

In addition to the new oneBARRIER solutions, other Bobst innovations will be on display at interpack.

  • BASFthe world's largest and market-leading chemical company, presents samples of packaging materials laminated with BASF's water-based adhesive on a Bobst laminating machine. Hall 10, Stand B43.
  • AMB, a leading international company in the food and especially the food packaging industry, together with Bobst and BASF, will present the advantages of a fully water-based, field-proven process from printing to lamination. Hall 9, Stand C04.
  • Morchema global supplier of adhesives and coatings for the production of flexible packaging and other laminating technology, will be showing samples laminated with a Bobst NOVA SX 550 laminating machine. The company will be demonstrating this production process live every day during the show. The NOVA SX 550 LAMINATOR is a solvent-free, modular laminating machine that sets new standards with its flexibility, productivity and user-friendliness. Hall 10, Stand D82.
  • Metsä Boarda leading manufacturer of premium fresh fibre cartonboard, is working together with the Bobst Mex Competence Centre to perfect the interaction between machines and materials. At the trade fair, both companies will be presenting folding cartons produced with flatbed die-cutters and folder-gluers from Bobst. Hall 8a, Stand D49.
