Zünd, Swiss manufacturer of digital cutting systems, wins the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2023 with the Zünd Cutter Q 32-32 D from the newly launched Q-Line.
The new Q-Line generation of cutters is the result of a new design concept, which is based on a strong design language. Precise geometries, which are slightly inclined towards each other, define the volume and create a balanced appearance. Side housings visually frame the machine's massive power. Advanced technologies, such as the fully automatic tool changer, give it character and emphasise its dynamic appearance as an integral part of the cutter. The arrangement of the controls and the new control panel are well thought-out, ergonomic and visually appealing. This combination of design and technology makes the machine the perfect Solution for highly automated and efficient digital cutting at an industrial level.

The new Q-Line with the BHS180 board handling system is presented to the public for the first time in April 2023. This market launch has now been crowned by being honoured by the international jury of experts who present the Red Dot Award every year. 43 independent jurors individually assessed various criteria such as the degree of innovation, ergonomics, product silhouette, symbolic and emotional value, quality awareness and ecology of a product.
Retractable safety glass panes and integrated light barriers ensure maximum safety with the new cutter when the two production beams accelerate at up to 2g. At such production speeds, a solid substructure made of mineral casting ensures stability and allows maximum precision in cutting. It provides the necessary mass to counteract vibrations. The production beams are made of carbon fibre-reinforced composite material, which makes them very light and robust.
