Rotzinger integrates wireless automation solutions from CoreTigo

The IO-Link wireless products and system solutions from CoreTigo, a provider of industrial wireless automation solutions, are now being integrated into Rotzinger's packaging machines, enabling the implementation of new and advanced functions that optimise the flexibility, efficiency and sustainability of production processes. The core business of Rotzinger PharmaPack are Solutions for primary and secondary packaging, especially for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food & beverage industries.

Rotzinger has developed an adaptive and flexible packaging machine for a food manufacturer that processes several packaging and product variants. The machine is based on a product carrier system arranged vertically to the product transfer system, which equipped with intelligent and independently moving, wirelessly connected gripping systems is. These grippers work at top speed and synchronised with the goods conveyor belts.

Wireless connectivity, from the control system to the individual, autonomously operating grippers that move endlessly in a circle, could only be realised with CoreTigo's sophisticated IO-Link wireless system components. These components were specially developed for wireless control and monitoring in factory automation. This enabled Rotzinger to realise the development and implementation of a highly flexible and high-speed machine.

This innovative machine design results in significantly shorter changeover times during operation, a smaller footprint of the system, maximum production capacity and high process flexibility for the various product and packaging types. This results in a high degree of sustainability on several levels: resource-saving use of raw materials, less space required for the system and a reduced need for machine components. The high flexibility of the Universal machine also saves the operator from having to operate various specialised machines.
