By combining different solutions, Zetes has optimised the traceability of Maison Burtin's champagne bottles.

Zetes has optimised the traceability of Maison Burtin's champagne bottles with a combination of different solutions. The ZetesAtlas labelling solution and the MD printing and labelling system are used.

The systems and technologies used at Maison Burtin are now outdated. To optimise the Improve quality control, reduce errors and strengthen the brand image, the company has decided to continue the digitise the traceability of its products. Automated processes with new, innovative technologies for printing and applying labels and for order picking are to be implemented for this purpose.

„The project became necessary because large retail and logistics companies required us to label all of our products with an EAN 128 code. All champagne crates leaving the factory have to be labelled with specific structured information. We therefore turned to Zetes as specialists in traceability. Zetes offered us a customised, automated solution for labelling all our products from production to the dispatch of our champagne crates.“

ZetesAtlas is fully integrated into the company's ERP, ensuring that Maison Burtin can Automated control of the labelling of the packaging cartons in the packaging lines. The system is controlled via a centralised, intuitive user interface. One or two labels are printed and labelled for each processed carton (brand and reference label) to identify all champagne cartons.

The printing and labelling head, Zetes MD1500 Station, was duplicated on each line to facilitate the replacement of consumables and avoid production downtime. The labelling of the cartons is followed by palletising. This process is also fully automated: the full pallet is film-wrapped in a system with a turntable and automatic film wrapping machine. Then the Pallet identified and validated on two sides by two pallet labels, which are controlled by an intelligent Zetes MD6000 printing and labelling system. The pallet is then transported to the warehouse and is ready for dispatch.

Thanks to the forthcoming integration of the ZetesMedea solution, Maison Burtin will also be in a position in future to modernise picking processes by combining an automated picking system with mobile technology.

„This project has improved our efficiency and productivity, especially by standardising all our label formats. It has meant that we no longer have to manage hundreds of different pre-printed labels because they are created automatically. It also saves us having to change the reels every time we change the label format. These processes were time-consuming and involved a lot of organisational effort.“

This extensive global project enables the seamless integration of all processes from production to packaging and despatch of the bottles and has significantly increased productivity. In addition, traceability is guaranteed to be error-free. As a result, Maison Burtin can now offer all customers optimum service quality.
