She is Managing Director of the German Packaging Institute (dvi) and is therefore largely responsible for bringing the industry together. In the podcast, Kim Cheng tells us what she loves about packaging and the industry.
When planning events for the year, there is no way around the German Packaging Institute. Time and again, the dvi brings together the various players in the packaging industry - whether for celebrations such as the German Packaging Award or for professional and political dialogue at the German Packaging Congress and in various seminars.
As Managing Director, Kim Cheng has been largely responsible for the events and bringing the industry together since 2016. In the podcast, she tells us what she loves about packaging and the industry.
Sustainability is of course a topic that also concerns the dvi. This was also evident in the submissions for the German Packaging Award - 40 per cent came from the area of sustainability, as Kim Cheng explains. However, she is also particularly enthusiastic about another category:
A lot has happened at the dvi and new formats have had to be found, and not just during the coronavirus pandemic. The institute has expanded its range of services for member companies and is dedicated to topics that affect the industry and where information is in demand.
Since the 1990s, we have evolved from a platform to an industry network. We offer more and more services and content for our members and provide information in newsletters, for example on European legislation, in order to create added value for our members. A personal milestone for me is to see how the German Packaging Congress continues to develop as a flagship event. We are increasingly realising that we can also act as a platform for political exchange and that is great to see.
