On 3 June, Anja Siegesmund will take over the position of Managing President of the Federal Association of the German Waste Management, Water and Circular Economy (Bundesverband der Deutschen Entsorgungs-, Wasser- und Kreislaufwirtschaft e.V.). The association was most recently headed by Dr Andreas Bruckschen, Herwart Wilms and Oliver Groß on an interim basis. The former Thuringian Environment Minister and Deputy Prime Minister is now taking over from Dr Bruckschen.

At the same time, the crises of our time all the more require a rethink from a linear to a circular economy in all material cycles: This increases our Independence from primary raw material imports, reduces resource consumption and enables more resilient supply chains for German industry. A consistent circular economy in all phases of the value chain, from product design to the recycling of raw materials, is possible - and more necessary than ever in view of ambitious climate targets in Germany and Europe. With the Green Deal, Europe has already set out to effectively anchor circular approaches. The federal government's new National Circular Economy Strategy opens up further windows for discussion. There is now the Great opportunity, to tackle the targeted ramp-up for a comprehensive circular economy and thus secure a competitive location with promising jobs for the future.“
