Fachpack opened its doors at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg under the motto „Transition In Packaging“. It describes the strong currents currently affecting the European packaging industry. High expectations in terms of sustainability coupled with new packaging regulations, increasing digitalisation and artificial intelligence are just three of the driving themes at the trade fair.

At the same time, demographic change is presenting the industry with challenges. Fachpack sees itself as a signpost for the industry and offers dialogue and orientation. „The dynamics in the packaging industry have never been greater than they are now,“ says Heike Slotta, Executive Director Exhibitions at NürnbergMesse. „And companies are responding to this with impressive creative and innovative power. We will now experience this live over three days of the trade fair, which I am very much looking forward to.“ At the stands of the 1,463 exhibitors, in the extensive programme of lectures, the exciting special shows and themed pavilions as well as the award ceremonies reflects the main theme „Transition In Packaging“. It occupies eleven exhibition halls this year. 47 per cent of the 1,463 exhibitors are travelling to Nuremberg from abroad, primarily from Austria and Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Greece, the Czech Republic, France and Turkey.

Around 56 per cent of the exhibitors are in the packaging sector, i.e. packaging materials, packaging materials and packaging aids. 44 per cent represent the packaging technology sector, i.e. packaging machines, labelling technology and automation.
