Billerud is expanding its portfolio and launching MediKraft SealBase, a surface-treated medical paper that offers a packaging solution for medical applications that do not require a sterile barrier system. The new paper will be presented now at the Compamed medical technology trade fair.
„MediKraft SealBase is a strategic move to expand our medical paper product portfolio, enabling us to serve a broader range of medical applications and customers looking for alternatives to traditional latex-based cold seal products,“ says Robert Torstensson, Vice President, Business Area Paper at Billerud.
MediKraft SealBase, which is made from pure virgin fibres at Billerud's Skärblacka plant in Sweden and has a basis weight of 38 g/m², is the first product in this range to be launched on the market. It is available as Base paper for medical synthetic cold seal coatings and offers an innovative solution for medical applications where a sterile barrier system is not required - ideal for applications such as plasters, but also for use with latex-based cold seal coatings.
Billerud supplies its two main categories of medical papers worldwide - SteriKraft, a range of medical papers with microbial barrier and MediKraft, a range of strong Papers for applications that do not require microbial barrier properties, such as inner packaging for disposable gloves, plaster packaging and examination table covers.
