The German Packaging Institute (dvi) has extended the deadline for submissions for the German Packaging Award 2025. Entries can now be submitted until 11 June.
Companies, start-ups, institutions and individuals from Germany and abroad therefore have a little more time to submit their innovative packaging solutions or prototypes for Europe's largest cross-industry showcase. There are ten competition categories to choose from, which will be assessed across all materials and on the basis of clearly defined criteria.
The dvi cites the high number of public holidays in May and the continuing high capacity utilisation in many companies as the reason for the extension. The institute has received feedback from the market on several occasions and wants to respond to this. At the same time, the institute makes it clear that a further extension of the deadline is not possible - the two-day jury meeting has already been firmly scheduled.
Companies, research institutions and creative minds from Germany and abroad can now register their innovative packaging solutions until 11 June. The competition, organised by the German Packaging Institute (dvi), is regarded as the largest European showcase for packaging innovations and is awarded in ten categories. The awards ceremony will take place at FACHPACK - a key industry event that offers the winners a big stage.
Every year, the Packaging Award honours outstanding solutions that meet the increasing demands for sustainability, functionality and efficiency. „Innovations in packaging are essential for the economy, environmental protection and consumers. Our competition puts the best ideas in the spotlight and recognises the people who make them possible“, explains Oliver Berndt, Head of Events & Marketing at the dvi.
Participants can submit their developments in ten categories - from design and sustainability to product presentation, digitalisation and packaging machines. Pupils, students and trainees are also given a platform for their ideas in a special category.
An independent panel of experts from the worlds of business, science and the media assesses the submitted packaging solutions according to defined criteria. Particularly outstanding innovations also have the chance to win a Gold Award. „As packaging award winners, companies can make their innovative strength visible and differentiate themselves from the competition“, says Berndt.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 23 September 2025 at FACHPACK in Nuremberg. In addition to the official award ceremony, the award-winning packaging will be presented to give a broad specialist audience an insight into the current trends and developments in the industry.
The packaging journal accompanies the competition as a media partner and reports extensively on the best innovations and the winners of the year 2025.
