Achema, the leading global trade fair for the process industry, kicks off today in Frankfurt am Main. Until 26 August, everything will revolve around current topics in the industry, including the challenges facing the process industry in view of the global political situation. The trade fair opens today with an event entitled "Climate-neutral chemical industry".
This year, the Achema For the first time, the congress will be fully integrated into the trade fair programme: All lecture sessions will take place either on stages directly in the exhibition halls or in the immediate vicinity of the exhibition groups. Also new to the congress are Five instead of the previous three theme days. Daily highlight sessions on the respective topics set additional accents.
Today, Monday, the topic "Hydrogen Economy" the prelude: Hydrogen will play a central role in the transformation of the process industry, the transport sector and the energy system towards climate neutrality in the future. The process industry is already the main user of hydrogen. How further potential can be realised in the future is the focus of the first theme day.
Production without the use of fossil fuels is an important and ambitious goal, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the process industry. Although the idea of fossil-free production is simple, it harbours many unanswered questions. The theme day Fossil Free Production'on Tuesday (23 August). The theme day on Wednesday (24 August) picks up on the trade fair's focus topic "The Digital Lab": Data from all areas of research and production come together in the lab. Modular, automated and fully networked, the digital laboratory is a central component for process development and quality assurance.
At the Achema-Researchers, developers and users will come together at the 8th Congress to discuss the latest technical developments and solutions for the current challenges facing the process industry. In total the congress will feature more than 115 sessions. In the five highlight sessions, thought leaders, users and technology providers will discuss where we stand today and what the process industry can expect in the future.
Whilst in the Congress sessions on application-oriented research and development from proof-of-concept to the threshold of market entry, the practical forums in short presentations lay the foundation for the future. Focus on current issues from production, best practices and ready-to-use technologies - always with the application in mind.
