Alpla is consolidating its developments in the field of biodegradable packaging solutions under the newly founded Blue Circle Packaging brand. Home-compostable coffee capsules are the first product available.
The global packaging producer and recycling specialist Alpla is now bundling its activities for biodegradable packaging solutions under Blue Circle Packaging. Under the new brand, the company will in future offer its customers packaging solutions that are all are biodegradable and thus make a contribution to sustainability. Materials made from renewable raw materials form the basis.

Blue Circle Packaging for a functioning circular economy
The founding of Blue Circle Packaging goes hand in hand with the holistic approach of Alpla The aim is to develop all product areas and packaging solutions with a view to a functioning circular economy. An important field of research (Replace) includes the Use of alternative materials from renewable raw materials.
The first products in the Blue Circle range are Home compostable coffee capsules. The injection-moulded coffee capsules are characterised by their technical and aroma-preserving properties - but especially by the fact that they can be composted at home. With the TÜV certificates OK Compost Home and OK Compost Industrial, they are suitable for disposal both in home compost and in the organic waste bin.
Joint venture for coffee
Alpla has also founded the start-up Blue Circle Coffee with the coffee roaster Amann Kaffee and the Silberball agency. It offers roasteries and smaller coffee suppliers extensive expertise in the areas of Roasting, filling, packaging and marketing of coffee in home-compostable coffee capsules. Consumers can also order three varieties of the company's own Blue Circle coffee line via an integrated web shop.
