As a one-stop shop, Baumer offers the complete technology portfolio for the packaging industry: position and measuring sensors, smart vision sensors, rotary encoders, industrial cameras, process sensors and force/strain sensors. Baumer will also be showcasing sensor solutions that enable maximum flexibility with minimum engineering effort:

The focus here is on light and light scanners from Baumer with high function reserves as an all-rounder on the conveyor belt like the O200. This compact optical sensor even recognises Ultra-black or glossy surfaces and transparent objects and is characterised by high ambient light immunity. The system manufacturer can therefore use the same sensor for different application requirements and changing packaging materials.

The O300/O500 and OT300/OT500 optical sensor families, which are related to the O200, enable reliable detection of all problematic surfaces and geometries in different designs and even greater ranges. The individual application and environmental conditions in the packaging industry require customised sensor solutions. The O200, O300 and O500 families combine the following for maximum flexibility Eight functional principles, four light sources and ranges of up to 40 metres in just three sizes.

Baumer's sensor solutions can play to their strengths particularly well in primary packaging (Fig.). The one-box design of many position sensors provides additional flexibility. Whether ultrasonic or optical, the sensor housing is always the same. System manufacturers can thus plan variably with the same sensor dimensions. This reduces development effort and assembly time and creates a valuable time advantage. Baumer has integrated the optical beam path into the 3D CAD data, thus reducing the design-in effort. And the light beam of the sensors is aligned to the mounting holes by design. This enables quick installation without the need for fine adjustment.
