The cosmetics and pharmaceuticals company Beiersdorf is entering into a strategic partnership with the environmental organisation WWF. The three-year partnership aims to improve climate protection, utilise water more efficiently and promote the circular use of resources.

The nature conservation organisation will advise Beiersdorf on the expansion of existing targets and the definition of additional targets. This is intended to strengthen the company's holistic approach to sustainability.

"Remodelling for a sustainable future"

WWF Germany has been advising the company on climate strategy issues since 2016 and was involved in the development of Beiersdorf's science-based climate target for the consumer segment: Direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1-3) are to be reduced by 30 per cent in absolute terms by 2025. The company itself describes Beiersdorf's holistic approach to climate protection as its „Climate Care“ mission. In addition, WWF Germany and Beiersdorf have been working together for several years in two projects in Malaysia and Indonesia to promote sustainable palm oil cultivation and local nature and species conservation.

„Companies play a crucial role in stopping the catastrophic loss of nature and biodiversity,“ says Martin Bethke, Director of Markets and Business at WWF Germany. „They have the direct influence to accelerate the transition to an economy within planetary boundaries. This includes driving forward the transformation for a sustainable future in their operations and value chains as well as in their market and regulatory environment. The WWF is pleased to do this with Beiersdorf directly in the company and in the supply chain.“
